Of course Kanye West would use one of the biggest television events of the year to debut some brand new material. Last night (Feb. 15), Saturday Night Live celebrated its 40th anniversary with the fittingly titled SNL 40 special, and West debuted "Wolves" with some help from Sia and Chicago rapper Vic Mensa.

West started out his innovative SNL 40 performance lying down on the floor, with a bright white skylight shining down on him, with amber colored contacts on his eyes. He kicked off his three-song medley with "Jesus Walks" before launching into some of his newer material.

The rough and tumble The College Dropout single transitioned into a tender take on his new single "Only One," with West now crouching.

Soon, he was joined by Sia and Mensa, who crawled on the ground with him.

"Wolves" begins with an enchanting round of "ooos" courtesy of Sia before West cuts in with his own winding, vocals. The real star of the SNL 40 show was Sia, who sings the hook on "Wolves," repeating that she "was too wild" with heartbreaking emotion.

Of course, the SNL 40 TV debut wasn't the first listen that West's fans had at "Wolves," though it's the main public debut of the track. West also opened up his New York Fashion Week show with the track, which revealed that it was the first song off West's forthcoming album.

West wasn't only on hand at SNL 40 to debut new music. He was also in on a few jokes. Before the show kicked off, West interrupted the hosts of The TODAY Show, mocking his Beck moment at the 2015 Grammys. The Grammy moment was also the subject of lampooning during the "Wayne's World" sketch, when Mike Myers and Dana Carvey repeatedly told West to sit down as they praised Beck.
