Dave Grohl recently helped out a fan with terminal cancer scratch an item off his bucket list. Ken Powell has been living with a life-threatening form of melanoma for six years and completing different tasks while he still has time. One wish was to meet the Foo Fighters, his favorite band.

Powell and Grohl were suppose to meet a few weeks ago in Australia at a meet-and-greet event, but the singer had to cancel due to an illness, Yahoo News Australia notes. Luckily, a flight attendant flying with the band had heard of Powell's story and relayed it to Grohl. The attendant took a picture of the frontman holding a sign greeting Powell and sent it to him along with some band memorabilia, autographs and VIP tickets for a Foos show in Los Angeles.

Now there are a few websites set up to help Powell experience the band like never before. The goal of $20,000 has already been reached, but Powell and his family want to raise another $10,000 to donate to the Melanoma Institute of Australia.

"We have just changed the goal to $30k because we thought it would be great to hand over a massive check to Melanoma Institute Australia, who have helped and supported Ken for over 9 years," Powell's daughter wrote on the Go Fund Me page. "We are thrilled to have funded the trip for Ken and now it's a chance to pay it forward and help research for melanoma which is vitally needed!"

This isn't the first instance of Grohl honoring a fan. Last month, also while in Australia, Grohl gave a blind fan a drumstick after seeing his sign in the crowd.

The group is currently on a lengthy tour that stretches through October. The Foos will hit the Gulf Shores in May for a headline slot at the Hangout Festival before heading overseas. Other big stops include Glastonbury in June, Fenway Park in July and Wrigley Field in August.
