Earlier this week, DMX's lawyer released a statement regarding allegations of a gas station robbery and now the troubled rapper is blaming the entire ordeal on the devil.

The "Party Up" rapper was recently accused of robbing a 21-year-old of $3,200 at a Newark, New Jersey gas station and he believes that evil forces are working to bring him down. TMZ caught up with DMX to get his side of things and he offered up an interesting response.

"I do not recall the incident to which you are referring to," he said. "If I'd of did it, you'd of known about it."

As BET reports, there is surveillance footage from the Exxon gas station where the incident took place. DMX admitted to being at the scene but denied being caught on camera.

"I wouldn't even be on the camera though. We stopped at a gas station. I don't recall any incident happening."

The 44-year-old rapper attempted to solidify his innocence by claiming that the devil is trying to destroy him. He also quoted a scripture, saying, "The harder the devil works at trying to destroy me, it's because I'm special to God. So, not that I look forward to these problems, but I face them knowing that the word says, 'No weapon formed against me shall prosper.'"

According to a statement released by DMX's lawyer, the alleged victim and his friends offered the rapper drugs and an argument ensued.

"He was leaving a show, a very successful show, and he stopped for gas. Four young men approached him for a photo. They took photos and they offered [DMX] drugs. He said no and told them to go ... They had an argument and next thing you know, they are accusing him of robbery. Just nonsense."
