Pimp C has been labeled as a legend in Southern hip-hop for quite sometime now, and his influence heightened after his untimely death back in 2007. Julia Beverly has taken on the task of writing about the late UGK rapper for a book to be released in July.

The former Ozone magazine publisher and editor-in-chief reportedly interviewed more than 250 people including Bun B, Snoop Dogg and Master P for her biography of the rapper, appropriately titled Sweet Jones: Pimp C's Trill Life Story. The book was written under the guidance of Pimp C's mother and manager, Weslyn "Mama Wes" Monroe.

"People often remember Pimp C for his flamboyant style and controversial interviews, but few understand just how complex and talented he was and how connected he was to the success of many other artists," Beverly says in a press release. "Initially, I felt this was an important project because he hadn't received a proper tribute. The more I researched, I realized his story is one that needs to be told, and I'm in the perfect position to tell it."

According to the book's website, Sweet Jones will include over 100 pages of color photos. The first 500 pre-orders will be autographed by the author and/or one of Pimp C's sons.

Pimp C died in West Hollywood in December 2007. In February 2008, the Houston Chronicle reported that "the combination of codeine and promethazine found in the rapper's system, coupled with the sleep disorder apnea, caused his death."

Last May, it was announced that Nas would release a posthumous album from Pimp C that would pair the UGK member with production from Juicy J, Mike WiLL Made It and DJ Mustard.
