With a new Star Wars revival on the horizon, another favored George Lucas movie franchise starring Harrison Ford will be reintroduced--Indiana Jones. In regards to the company's deal with Disney, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy established that the corporation is "in talks" about a new film but a script hasn't yet been crafted.
"When it will happen, I'm not quite sure," Kennedy told Vanity Fair. "We haven't started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it." In October of 2012, Disney bought out Lucasfilm for a pricey $4 billion-with it, came the entirety of George Lucas' film assets. As a result of this business deal, Star Wars will inflate over the next five years with with three episodes and two films, notes Rolling Stone.
Kennedy's statement has a more positive outlook than the statement made by Disney Chairman Alan Horn. "We haven't done anything," he told Variety last year. "We don't have a story. We need a story."
It was only a matter of time before Disney decided to embark on a new Indiana Jones journey but Kennedy's talk with Vanity Fair was the first confirmation of a fresh film. In addition to the Lucasfilm deal, Disney has the opportunity to re-create comedy-mystery film Radioland Murders as well as the fantasy movie Willow.
Ford, the 72-year-old actor will reprise his adored role as Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens yet hasn't confirmed or denied his involvement in the new Indiana Jones film. The 2008 fourth installment, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, incorporated Ford along with Shia LaBeouf, although it seems a new actor could very well take on the lead role.
Both Chris Pratt and Bradley Cooper are rumored to play the fedora wearing archeology professor, Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones Jr, although a solid decision won't be made for quite some time.
