Britney Spears announced last week that she'd have to cancel several of her Las Vegas residency shows as the result of an ankle injury suffered while performing, but it looks like that decision was premature: The pop star revealed that she'll be back at the Planet Hollywood Resort tonight, Friday May 8. One has to wonder if she'll premiere her new single, "Pretty Girls," live.

"Finally giving the boot the boot!!!" she said on Instagram, referencing the boot she had worn during the week to protect her injured leg. "See you tomorrow, Vegas!"

Spears had initially injured her leg during her residency performance on April 29. Video captured by a fan shows her coming down awkwardly on her ankle while performing a dance routine onstage. Although the media hype surrounding the event led many to worry a little too much, only three dates ended up getting dropped. She was forced to cancel her performances on Friday and Saturday last weekend, as well as a third date in the middle of the week, but she reported that those dates would be rescheduled.

Some have suggested that the injury was planned by a competitor on the Las Vegas strip...another pop star with a residency to sell (in reality, it was only your correspondent suggesting that conspiracy theory). Mariah Carey kicked off her "Mariah #1 to Infinity" residency at Caesar's Palace on Wednesday night, after all.

Although performers don't tend to change their setlists very much while performing during residencies (as stage elements and special effects are designed around the set schedule), one has to wonder if Spears will inject a new song into her show on Friday. After all, her new single—"Pretty Girls," featuring Iggy Azaleajust dropped on Tuesday.

Stay tuned.
