Beyoncé is the first lady of Tidal, if you will, as the wife of owner Jay Z. But soon, her discography may not even be available on the streaming service. A new dispute between her label Sony Records and Tidal may mean that her catalogue will be getting the axe.

In a new profile of the company on Bloomberg, subtly titled "Why Jay Z's Tidal Is a Complete Disaster," the business magazine reports that Tidal is hard in negotiations between label Sony, which is asking for a major monetary advance in order to support the release of its artists' catalogues. Though music from Sony is currently streaming on Tidal, in contract with the service's former owner Aspiro, Tidal may soon find Sony Records' collection washed away.

Painfully, Beyoncé, Jay Z's wife and a co-owner of Tidal, is on Sony's label, meaning Jay Z's own wife may soon be unavailable to stream new music on his service.

Beyoncé isn't the sole co-owner on Sony. Daft Punk, Alicia Keys, Usher, Calvin Harris also have associations with the label. Sony Records' roster also includes big name acts such as Adele, Fifth Harmony, One Direction, Sia, Meghan Trainor, Bob Dylan and many, many more.

Though the A-list acts that were included in the Tidal press conference have major sway in the music industry, they still don't necessarily own or control their own streaming rights, Peter Mensch of Q Prime talent agency said in the Bloomberg profile. The fact that these artists don't control their own streaming also seems to indicate why they can't pull their music from other services.
