Insomniac Events' flagship event Electric Daisy Carnival has announced it will be headed to Japan in 2016. Details are scarce at the moment, but the event will take place in Tokyo in July next year. So far EDC has expanded internationally to the UK, Brazil and Mexico, but its base has been in the United States. The move abroad continues with this new announcement and pushes them into the fertile and fast-growing Asian market.

With Ultra Music Festival announcing nearly a dozen new festivals in 2015, the rest of the electronic music festival market has been forced to make moves to try and keep up with UMF. EDC is looking to keep up with the large festivals being thrown all over the world, notably in Asia for fans that seemingly have an insatiable appetite for electronic music. .

"Dance music is truly a global movement, and over the last few years I've been fortunate enough to bring EDC to our Headliners in Mexico, the UK, and later this year, Brazil," said Pasquale Rotella, Founder and CEO of Insomniac in a statement. "I can't tell you how excited I am to announce that in 2016, we'll be adding Japan to that list! More info to come, but make sure to follow @EDC_Japan for all the details. #EDCJP."

Insomniac is partnering with local internet services provider GMO Internet Group to help host the event.

Stay tuned for more details about Insomniac's inaugural Electric Daisy Carnival in Japan including exact festival dates, ticketing information and a lineup.
