Last night was a big night for Fred Armisen. Not only did he debut his 8G band for the first episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, but he also stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to talk about the new gig and introduce his band, which includes Les Savy Fav's Seth Jabour and Syd Butler, Eli Janney of Girls Against Boys and Beyoncé collaborator Kim Thompson.

He and Fallon also teamed up for a sketch that imagined the Beatles as an Internet-era band, using social media to promote themselves.

During his interview with Fallon, Armisen talked about how much counting was involved in being the bandleader and what he plans to wear on the show. The two also joked about the pronunciation of imaginary band members' names and the different voice inflections of each of New York's boroughs.

As for his role on the first episode of Late Night, Armisen and Meyers had a bit about a parody show on History Channel called Recent History that airs at 6 a.m. and only goes back an hour or so in history. We also got a taste of the band's sound, which has a '90s post-punk vibe.
