When you think of the music industry's most down to earth rockers, one bearded drummer turned singer comes to mind--the talent that is Dave Grohl. The foul mouthed Foo Fighters front man takes comfort playing music in front of loyal fans, constantly inviting concertgoers to the stage for assistance on favorite tracks like "My Hero." However, the 46-year-old musician surprisingly enough suffers from social anxiety and is already nervous to attend next month's Emmy Awards where his HBO series Sonic Highways will be nominated for four awards.

"It's just going to be such a crazy night, I just can't imagine," he candidly revealed to Golden Derby. "I think I'll feel like that kid who is the new kid at school, the first day at school. I'll probably just sit down, with my back up against the wall, just nervous, and waiting to see who is going to want to talk to me. I have a little bit of social anxiety. It might seem hard to imagine, but in rooms like that, I kind of clam up. I mean, put me at the f-ing Grammys, and I know everybody there, and I've got a bottle of whiskey in my hands the whole time, but we'll see what happens."

Directed, produced and created by Grohl himself, Sonic Highways was split into an eight-part mini-series that followed the Foo Fighters on the road during the recording process of their 2014 album of the same name. The travelogue that made stops to record songs in eight musically historical cities has been nominated for Best Informational Series or Special, Best Directing (Nonfiction Programming), Sound Mixing and Sound Editing, UltimateClassicRock notes. The former Nirvana drummer gives credit to the network for making his directorial debut as smooth as possible.

"To be considered a part of the television filmmaking scene is such an incredible honor," he continued. "The people that I worked with at HBO were so amazing because they basically said, 'Yeah, just do whatever you wanna do. You know what you're doing.' ... We would go out and get hammered together and come out with ideas for episodes. It wasn't some crazy corporate boardroom thing. So within our organization, it was really just people hanging out talking about music. And then everyone at HBO was so welcoming and so cool - if that's what the television world is like, then Hallef-inlujah. I'll do this all day long."

The Foo Fighters will continue their string of North American tour dates and stop by the UK for two make-up gigs at Milton Keynes Bowl on September 5 and 6 alongside Iggy Pop. The celebrated rock band was forced to cancel their original tour dates in the UK after Grohl sustained injuries from a stage fall.

"You have always stood by our band, and we will always stand by you. Like I say at every show, we wouldn't be here if it weren't for you guys. And I mean that. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. And I will do everything I can to come back and give you a night to remember for the rest of your lives as soon as possible," a statement from the band concerning three added dates reads.
