It's been two and a half years since country music starlet Miranda Lambert released her last solo album Four The Record, but now she's prepping to drop a new record this year. After months of anticipation, today (March 10), Lambert announced her new record Platinum has a release date: June 3.

Though it seems like a long time between albums for Lambert, she's steadily been dropping solo releases every two and a half years since 2005. And in an interview with the Associated Press, she revealed she didn't want to rush the process and wind up unhappy with the final results.

"From the day you kinda go I need to start looking for songs and writing songs, it feels like no matter how much time you have, you're rushed," Lambert said. "And so I didn't want to rush it at all. To me it's all about timing and making sure that you can feel like you can finally sit there and go, OK, the album's done, and never have a moment where you go, I wish we could change that or I wish we had a different song."

Plus, it's not like Lambert has been sitting dormant for two years. Her critically acclaimed country two Pistol Annies released its second studio album Annie Up in May of last year.

The shiny new release date for Platinum comes a little over a month after Lambert dropped the album's lead single "Automatic." A straightforward country tune about pining for the good ol' days, "Automatic" is a relaxing nostalgic trip into Lambert's pre-fame life.

"Automatic" will be one of 16 songs on Platinum, though a full tracklist has yet to be revealed. Other song titles reportedly include "Bathroom Mirror," "Something Bad" (feat. Carrie Underwood) and "Priscilla."
