Demi Lovato may have gotten sexy on her new single "Cool for the Summer," but she still knows how to belt a ballad like the best of them. Recently, the Confident singer appeared in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and in addition to performing a selection of her own big hits, Lovato also took some time out to give a faithful rendition of Hozier's big single "Take Me to Church."

Unlike Hozier, who is known to appear in the Live Lounge and give songs from the likes of Ariana Grande and Sam Smith big, bluesy makeovers, Lovato stayed true to "Take Me to Church," showing off her massive vocal range and ability to maintain a big song.

Lovato sounded strong and sturdy as she tackled the powerhouse anthem, and she reached into the throaty and powerful portion of her voice and carried it through the vocal. Near the end of the song, she showed off a little bit, eschewing the real chorus for a series of big runs.

Though Lovato kept true to "Take Me to Church," she happened to give her own song a bit of a makeover. During her time in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, she also performed her lead Confident single "Cool for the Summer." However, Lovato gave her single a bit of a makeover. While she didn't go full acoustic, she stripped down the song to its core elements to show off her smoky singing skills.

Lovato's new album Confident will be released on Oct. 16.
