Nick Jonas is no longer that little mop-headed guitar playing frontman of The Jonas Brothers - that's been very clear for over a year. But now, the new solo star is showing off a fully new side of himself: a hip-hop artist. On Friday (Oct. 9), Jonas released a black and white video for "Area Code," and he's notably distressed throughout the entire clip.

There's no real linear plot in "Area Code," but instead it features Jonas walking around in various sets, singing his most hip-hop leaning track to date, hand on his heart and a look of passion on his face. There's Jonas, singing in the rain as trains pass him in the background. And there he is again, singing against a black backdrop (and later, a white one). Oh snap! And there Jonas is, the colors of the video inverted.

"Area Code" is the latest single that Jonas has released so far this year, following the debut of "Levels." But, it's not the last we'll hear from him in the coming months. In June, Jonas gave an interview with Entertainment Weekly and revealed that he's due to drop a new album (or deluxe version of his solo debut Nick Jonas) either before the end of 2015 or the beginning of next year.

"I feel like the next step is just going to be getting a collection of a few more songs and maybe repackaging the album," he said. "I still feel like there's some life left on the record I released last year."
