Rihanna's new album ANTI has been surrounded with promotional attempts that have come and gone, singles that have failed to reach the catastrophic heights that the pop star is used to and competing new album releases that have foiled her rollout plan. After a bumpy 2015, it now seems as though "R8" has once again found a target release date, and it's set for next month.

Billboard reports that ANTI is due to be released next month, potentially with a surprise drop a la Beyoncé's 2013 self-titled LP. A concrete day is not in the rumor mill, but ANTI seems poised for release before the end of the year.

The new December release date is just the latest in a series of planned ANTI drops. The record was previously rumored to debut alongside Jay Z's streaming service TIDAL (of which Rihanna is a co-owner) and for Nov. 6, both of which have since been debunked. And, like Justin Bieber and One Direction, Adele's Nov. 20 release date for her new album 25 has also thrown a wrench in Rihanna's album rollout plans.

A source tells Billboard that Rihanna and her team are not only struggling to find a release date but they also can't sort out what the album's fourth single should be.

The rollout difficulties seem to have some truth to them. Rihanna was previously pegged to perform at this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, but she dropped out on Tuesday (Nov. 3), to be replaced by Ellie Goulding.

Whenever ANTI does arrive, it will be Rihanna's eighth studio album and her first release since 2012's Unapologetic. The record has thus far been led by singles "FourFiveSeconds," "B*tch Better Have My Money" and "American Oxygen."
