Earlier this week, fans were introduced to the new funky and surprisingly psychedelic single and imagery of Coldplay's newest single, "Adventure of a Lifetime," off the band's seventh and possibly final album, A Head Full of Dreams, which they performed for the British variety show TFI Friday this weekend.
In true Coldplay fashion, the band gave a roaring energetic performance of the new song with frontman Chris Martin jumping around the stage and prompting the audience to sing some call and response "whoo-hoos," an act which put a huge smile on Martin's face as he sunk into the crowd at the end.
Those same psychedelic images the band teased earlier in the week were projected on the screen behind Martin, with bright flowers draping over the colorfully painted amps.
The song marks a much different direction and tone for the band, which has typically specialized in large new-wave rock ballads. "Adventure of a Lifetime" is certainly more funk influenced and embraces elements of modern electronic dance music with its looping guitar riff. Some of the sounds are more reminiscent of what small-time festivalgoers would dub as "jam-tronica."
By watching the performance, fans and enemies of the band alike wouldn't guess this is the group's last recorded effort. Everyone in Coldplay seemed to have a smile on their face as they played some of the bands most ambitious and risky music to date -- not a lot of turmoil or lack of creativity to be found. But, who knows what's going on behind the scenes and if this will actually be the award winning band's final record.

Martin also fielded a question, which was really more of a statement, from Noah, the son of TFI Friday host Chris Evans. He cutely thanked the Coldplay frontman for "looking over the world so nicely" and told him about his families history of having similar names to Martin's own. Watch the clip below.
A Head Full of Dreams is set for a Dec. 4 release via Parlophone/ Atlantic.
