Chris Martin curated Saturday's Global Citizen Festival, which featured headliners Pearl Jam, Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran and the Coldplay frontman's own band all bringing out special guests for their performances. Martin used the stage to debut a new song, "Amazing Day," and performed with Ariana Grande on the track, "Just A Little Bit of Your Heart."

According to Stereogum, Coldplay played the new track during a sound check and sure enough, we heard it last night during the actual performance.

"This is about the wonderful things on earth," Martin said, introducing the song for the first time. "Amazing Day" will likely find its way onto Coldplay's forthcoming album, A Head Full Of Dreams, which currently has no set release date and is rumored to be the band's last album.

The song is bathed in Martin's piano-ballad style as it crescendos to a large vocal part at the end. It's not going to win over Coldplay's fervent haters, but for fans of the British rock group, it might be enough to hold them over until the album's eventual release. Watch the performance below.

"We are not a generation of bystanders," The Global Citizen Festival boldly states on its website. While millions of people watched the live stream from home, to actually attend the festival in New York City's Central Park one had to donate or take action to combat global poverty or inequality around the world. The festival was designed to coincide with the meeting of The United Nation in New York City this week as they discuss a new set of global goals to fight extreme poverty and protect our planet by 2030. Tickets were free but you had to donate to a cause.

Ariana Grande hasn't had the best public image after the donut licking incident, but during her performance alongside Martin, she certainly shined with a glowing voice. Check out the duet below.
