Radiohead's Thom Yorke took to the streets this weekend as part of the People's Climate Movement March in London, an event organized in solidarity with numerous marches and rallies held across the globe with the common goal of urging policymakers to take the issue of global climate change seriously as the world's leaders convene in France this coming week for the COP21, otherwise known as the 2015 Paris Climate Conference. As Rolling Stone reports, the artist DJed atop Greenpeace U.K.'s arctic-themed float alongside an estimated turnout of 50,000 environmental activists that marked through the British capital.

As Spin points out, you can watch a few clips of Yorke's environmental rally set via Greenpeace's social media accounts, below.

As hundreds of thousands of people were marching worldwide, approximately 25,000 official delegates from government, intergovernmental organisations, UN agencies and NOGs were simultaneously descending upon Paris in preparation for this week's conference that is expected to draw 50,000 participants from around the world. The official goal of the conference as stated on the COP21 website is to "for the first time in over 20 years of UN negotiations, aim to achieve a legally binding and universal agreement on climate, with the aim of keeping global warming below 2°C."

This week's proceedings are far from the first of their kind--international leaders have been getting together annually since the Rio Earth Summit in 1992--but it has been awhile since they have come out of a conference with concrete plans for a truly sustainable future. In the past, for example, it took leaders several years to adopt the Kyoto Protocol and because the plan's provisions were not strictly enforced, its goals were never fully realized. That's why last week, the Radiohead frontman signed an open letter urging world leaders attending the COP21 talks this week to reach a deal. Björk and David Bowie were also among the list of artists who cosigned the letter.

Yorke's rally set was only the warm-up for another major performance for the cause, the Pathway to Paris environmental awareness concert which is scheduled for December 5th. In addition to the Radiohead frontman's solo project, Patti Smith and Flea will be sharing the stage with the likes of 350.org founder Bill McKibben and fellow activist Naomi Klein.

Yorke and Flea have collaborated in the past on their Atoms for Peace project, so environmental politics aside the upcoming Pathway to Paris concert is sure to be pretty epic. Watch the Atoms for Peace video for "Before Your Very Eyes" below.
