A first trailer for J. Cole's upcoming HBO documentary special, Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming, has arrived and it's undeniably motivational, to say the least. Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming will focus on the rapper's career and upbringing, with cameos from both Drake and Jay Z, as well as previously recorded live performances from Cole's tour following his third studio album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, which was certified platinum back in April of this year (the first rap album to do so in nearly 25 years without help from featured guests).

It had previously been reported that the North Carolina rapper behind the massive hit, "No Role Modelz," would make his HBO television debut in his very own special arriving in January of next year, which is now less than a month away (sorry for the reminder). The 90-minute special, which was directed by Scott Lazer, edited by Oliver Riley-Smith, and overseen by executive producers J. Cole, Ibrahim Hamad and Adam Roy, will air precisely on Jan. 9th at at 10:00 PM on HBO.

The upcoming special is not HBO's first with label Roc Nation, who previously joined forces with the network for Jay Z's Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film in 2013, as well as Jay Z and Beyonce's On The Run Tour last year.

In the trailer, Cole describes his vision for his hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina. "My dream for Fayetteville is that people here can wake up and realize that anything you want is possible if you want it," he says. "Growing up it felt like there wasn't no opportunity here. I would come back home and there's that feeling that there's no place like home."
