Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas have signed with Universal Music in a new partnership. The business venture was announced Tuesday (Dec. 15) by Universal Music Publishing Group chairman and CEO Jody Gerson. The "Confident" singer has made a deal with Universal for global publishing rights for Safehouse Publishing, which is a sector of her pet project Safehouse Records. Safehouse Records is additionally fronted by Jonas and the duo's manger Phil McIntyre.

"I am thrilled to be in business with Universal Music Publishing Group for both my music and our label, Safehouse Records," Lovato said in a statement released to Billboard. "This new relationship is allowing me to grow as a musician and an entrepreneur and, most importantly, it is allowing me to create an inspiring environment for other artists."

Jonas stated, "Safehouse Records has been a passion project for Phil, Demi and myself for years. We are happy to have found the perfect home at Universal Music Group."

Lovato and her camp have announced this on the helm of another success, a win at Billboard's 2015 Women in Music event that occurred this past Friday (Dec. 11). The singer has received a lot of nods for mixing up her professional image with the release of her new album and was the recipient of the "Rulebreaker" award during the ceremony. She was presented with the trophy by Fifth Harmony, which was also accompanied by a video message from her new partner in business Nick Jonas.

"It's not intentional and that's what's awesome - people see it," Billboard reported that Lovato said on her new image while receiving the award. "I'm excited to show people you can be yourself and people will appreciate it." The singer then gave a stirring rendition of her new song "Stone Cold."

"I'm not a public singer by any means, I'm a singer, and so this might be a little awkward," she said to the crowd. "Because for the first time in my life and my career, I've grown to know who I am as a person and as an artist."
