Nicki Minaj has found herself in hot water again, and this time it has nothing to do with a boyfriend or reading a Maya Angelou poem. The "Anaconda" rapper is being called out by human rights activists for an upcoming concert in the African nation of Angola, where she will be performing for dictator Jose Eduardo dos Santos and his family.

Minaj is scheduled to perform at the Christmas festival Show Unitel Boas Festas on Saturday (Dec. 19), but according to The Hollywood Reporter, Thor Halvorssen of the Human Rights Foundation is not happy with her decision, and he has criticized the emcee in a new open letter.

"Ms. Minaj, you are well known for being involved with charities such as the Get Schooled Foundation, which helps motivate young people to graduate from high school and succeed in college," Halvorssen wrote. "If you move forward with this performance for the dictator and his family, you will be in league with the people stealing educational resources and opportunity from young Angolans."

Angola has been ruled by dos Santos for decades now, and his country has a long history of human rights violations, including harassing journalists and activists, using excessive police force and supporting the "blood diamond" trade.

Minaj has not yet responded to the controversy surrounding her Angola concert. Instead, she promoted the show on her Instagram earlier in the day.
