Last night on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Chvrches reminded fans and critics alike why they have one of the best pop albums of the year with a performance of "Clearest Blue" off Every Open Eye. There was a lot of great music in 2015 so it's hard to fit all of the fabulous albums into one overarching "best of" list, but Chvrches has been noticeably absent from this year's round of critic rankings, despite the power behind the group's pop album.

This is a performance you'll want to grab some headphones for to listen to that crispy synth bass drop. The performance was fun and dancey like all great synth pop should be with frontwoman Lauren Mayberry head banging to the tune and going off stage to get closer to the crowd, clapping along to the beat.

It's the kind of performance that reminds one of just how talented and masterfully poppy this band can get in a year where many critics are (rightfully) praising Carly Rae Jepsen for the same qualities. However, Mayberry and the whole band bring a level of sophistication to the music that goes deeper than the other pop albums released this year. Every Open Eye also does more to innovate on the classic '80s synth sound that so many bands from 2015 are borrowing from as the trendy thing to do.

Maybe it's because the band's 2015 release is fairly similar to its break-through efforts on 2013's The Bones of What You Believe, where as other pop albums from the year have been more unexpected. But, Every Open Eye is definitely worth spending some time with and should be making more of a splash on those end-of-the-year lists.
