A new series from WeTV is shining some light on the next generation of Hip-Hop superstars. The hour-long show titled, Growing Up Hip-Hop, gives viewers an all-access look into the lives of the offspring of Rap heavyweights like Run D.M.C's Rev. Run, Roc-A-Fella Records' mogul Damon Dash, Legendary rapper Master P, and a host of others.
The documentary's full roster includes:
Romeo Miller - Formerly known as child rapper "Lil Romeo," the now 26-year-old son of hip hop legend Master P is being groomed to succeed his father at the helm of No Limit Records.
Angela Simmons - The daughter of Rev. Run of Run D.M.C fame, Simmons' is busy juggling her career as a model and fashion designer with a budding romance with Romeo Miller, her longtime friend.
Kristinia DeBarge - This 25-year-old singer/songwriter is the child of James DeBarge, a member of the famous R&B family group of the same name. In the years since the group's success, the elder DeBarge has turned to drug abuse which puts his daughter in the tough position of choosing whether to stick it out with him or cut ties completely.
Damon "Boogie" Dash Jr. - Being the son of legendary Roc-A-Fella records founder Damon Dash is a tough act to follow. The younger Dash must balance his personal goals with the ever-looming need to live up to his father's legacy.
TJ Mizell - Like Angela Simmons, Mizell counts a Run D.M.C member -- this time Jam Master Jay -- as one of his parents. Mizell is trying to preserve his late father's legacy by trying to make it a DJ in New York City.
Egypt Criss - The daughter of Sandra "Pepa" Denton from Salt-N-Pepa and Treach from rap group Naughty By Nature, young Egypt is busy trying to make it as a solo artist despite her mother's controlling management style.
Growing Up Hip Hop follows the next generation of hip hop royalty as they attempt to step outside the shadow of their famous families." Reads the official synopsis.
"With their love and work lives intertwined and with their overprotective families always nearby, these friends will each face challenging and sometimes surprising situations as they strive for independent success?"
