Actress Jennifer Lawrence is know for speaking her mind on topics that alot of people in Hollywood choose to stray away from. In the February 2016 cover issue of Glamour, the Joy star gave her opinion on Planned Parenthood. She explained why she supports the non-profit organization, stating: Planned Parenthood is "so much more than abortion."

The 25-year-old winner of three Golden Globes, including her most recent one for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Movie or Comedy, doesn't only stand by the practices and efforts of Planned Parenthood, but Lawrence also revealed she turned to them personally in the past for help when she was a teenager.

Admitting to growing up in a "Jesus home," the Kentucky native visited Planned Parenthood to obtain various forms of contraception, like condoms and birth control. They were also able to provide her with further information about safe sex. Lawrence believes she wouldn't have been able to get these things if it weren't for the facility, especially living with an extremely religious mother.

"It isn't an attack on abortions; it's an attack on women," Lawrence told Glamour. "Because Planned Parenthood is so much more [than abortion]."

According to the website, Planned Parenthood is dedicated to providing affordable reproductive health and medical care for men, women, and teens. The organization offers contraception, STD testing and treatment, cancer screenings, and provides information on reproductive and sexual health.

This wouldn't be the first time Lawrence spoke out about a controversial hot topic. The young actress has remained vocal in the fight toward equal gender pay in the workplace. While she often contemplates being so opinionated, Lawrence believes one of the main reasons she was given a voice was to use it talk about things she truly cares about.

“And now [gestures widely] I am a successful woman who has not had a pregnancy… But seriously," Lawrence told Glamour. "What harm comes from supplying people with birth control, condoms, Pap smears, and cancer screenings?”
