The always notable Courtney Love covered "Creep" by Radiohead at a party for the movie Freeheld, hosted by Linda Perry. The party had a star-studded attendance list of important names in the industry, including the film's star Ellen Page, Tobey Maguire, Sara Gilbert, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Jakob Dylan and even Love's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. The song that inspired the party in the first place, "Hands of Love," is in the running for an Oscar nod for best original song. But Love was only one of the celebrities who covered classic tracks.

According to Billboard, Love was not the only celebrity who took the stage that night, amongst which were Ian Astbury of The Cult, Juliette Lewis and even Christina Aguilera. Astbury covered "Moonlight Daydream" by David Bowie and "Break on Through" by The Doors onstage and was followed soon after by Lewis who covered "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" by AC/DC. When Aguilera took the stage, she joked that she had the flu, but delivered a charged rendition of "Mother" by John Lennon.

Perry herself also stepped up to the microphone to sing some Led Zeppelin. Of Miley Cyrus's notable absence she said, "Miley wanted to be here but couldn't make it back from Australia in time, so she says hi."

Throughout the press that "Hands of Love" has been receiving, Perry has remained humble on the song's origins, although she wrote it.

"I don't take ownership in something that beautiful, because it comes from somewhere else," Perry said to Billboard back in October. Perry has always said that the song just popped into her head after she viewed the independent film. "All of a sudden," Perry said, "I hear lyrics, melody, the chords - it's all just kind of coming." She's described writing the song on her dashboard immediately after the screening.

The producers were dumbfounded by her quick turnaround and Perry said, "I think they thought I was on drugs or something. They were like, 'There's no way you're going to tell us you wrote a song in 45 minutes on the way from the movie to here.'"
