Zayn Malik may have his first single "Pillow Talk" due for release this Friday (Jan. 29) and shared some choice words about his former boy band One Direction and his bandmates, but that doesn't mean the emerging solo star is totally writing off a reunion. In a new interview, Malik revealed that he is open to the idea of rejoining 1D - someday.

When speaking to The Sunday Times, Malik revealed that he would, maybe, someday reunite with his One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan. But, really, he noted that was a question and situation for a different time.

"Who knows? I don't know," he said about a potential reunion. "If the time was right and that was the thing to do, then I would make that decision when it came around."

Despite being open to rejoining One Direction sometime in the future, Malik's recent track record with the band is less than stellar. Malik has been open that One Direction's music wasn't quite his taste. He went so far as to say he didn't buy 1D's new album Made in the A.M. in an interview with Billboard.

"I'll be honest. I thought the first single was quite cool. I heard the second single and, yeah, I didn't buy the album," he said.

Malik also revealed that he was no longer on speaking terms with his former bandmates. "I guess certain phone numbers have changed and I haven't received calls from a lot of people," he said. "I've reached out to a few of them and not got a reply. Certain people have pride issues, but it's stuff you overcome in time."

While One Direction continues its indefinite hiatus, Malik plans to release his debut single "Pillow Talk" on Friday (Jan. 29). Malik notably left the boy band in March of last year.
