Zayn Malik is making major strides in his solo career this week, with the pending release of his debut single "Pillow Talk" on Friday. However, the former One Direction member has had one major setback in his big coming out. Malik has cancelled his planned solo TV debut on The Graham Norton Show.

According to E! Online, Malik was scheduled to appear on the BBC America talk show on Monday, Feb. 1, but has had to can the performance as he works on his new album.

"Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts with recording commitments, Zayn's appearance on Graham Norton has been postponed. Zayn has confirmed that he would love to appear on the show at a later date," Malik's team said in a statement.

Instead, this week's Graham Norton Show will feature Will Smith, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Toby Jones and British soul singer Laura Mvula.

Malik's debut television appearance is now a mystery.

One known thing about Malik's solo career? It's on its way. On Sunday (Jan. 24), the pop star announced that his debut single will be "Pillow Talk," and he teased some sexy shirtless artwork along the way.

"Pillow Talk" is the lead single from Malik's forthcoming debut solo album, which is due for release in early spring.

In his first post-One Direction interview earlier this year with FADER, Malik revealed that he will be pulling from an R&B influence on his own music, citing R. Kelly, Usher, Prince and even the rap of Biggie and Tupac as influences.
