They’ve been together for about 5 years, but Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama aren’t engaged, at least not yet. On a recent episode of Ellen, the “Confident” singer talked about the engagement rumors, saying that she “wouldn’t mind” if she saw a ring.

When asked by the host about the rumored engagement on the show, Lovato said, “I don’t see a ring… I wouldn’t mind if I saw one! There’s time for everything, you know. We’ve been together this long, and obviously I’m not going anywhere and vice versa.”

Lovato then talked about the two’s relationship, saying that they were introduced when she was 17, but that the 36-year-old actor wouldn’t date her until she turned 18.

“I met him six years ago,” Lovato told Degeneres. “I was head over heels, and he was like, ‘Uhh, stay away until you’re old enough.’ And so we’ve been off and on for about five, five and a half years.”

While Lovato’s appearance on Ellen was successful, not everyone is a fan of the singer's interpersonal interactions, which was made abundantly clear by a fan this past November. After a meet and greet, a fan named Josh Helfgott wrote an open letter to Lovato criticizing his negative experience at the meet and greet session.

In the letter, Helfgott cited that Lovato was rude to her fans and did not make eye contact with anyone and rushed through the fan photographs to the point of taking 200 photographs in a record 15 minutes. He also criticized Lovato for putting fans into groups for their photos, especially when those in groups did not know one another.
