Taylor Swift and Kanye West had seemingly buried the hatchet since he stormed the stage and interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs, but it appears the two musicians are on the outs again following the release of West’s song “Famous.” Apparently, Swift did not approve of a controversial lyric from the track where West name dropped the “Blank Space” singer. Despite the fact that she threw obvious shade at West during the Grammys, one of the show’s producers confirmed that Swift knew about the lyric before it got out to the masses.
Alluding to the infamous incident that spawned countless online jokes and social media memes, West referenced Swift on a cut from his new studio album The Life of Pablo, when he raps, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b*tch famous.”
The Internet nearly exploded with tweets and stories that West had dissed Swift and he took to Twitter soon thereafter to reveal that he received Swift’s approval for the lyric, which was actually her idea. Her reps denied that Swift had prior knowledge of the actual lyric and cautioned West about “releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message.”

But according to Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich, Swift was given a fair warning.
“She came in a couple of weeks ago and she had an advance of the track, so she commented on it in a very funny way,” Enrlich told Entertainment Tonight. “She’s smart.”
While accepting her award for Album of the Year on Monday (Feb. 15) night, Swift made a point to further solidify her dismay with the lyric. She noted that “there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.”
West has since sent Swift his best regards following an audio leak from just before his performance on Saturday Night Live, where he referred to her as a “fake ass.”
