You might assume that a relatively unknown team like Shrewsbury would be an easy match for United, but we have to remind you that just last week Louis Van Gaal's side lost to Danish Superliga team FC Midtjylland in the Europa League. That was a bit of a surprise, making today's game a nail-biter for fans of the once-esteemed Red Devils.
At a pre-match press conference, United's coach spoke about the importance of advancing to the next round in the Cup.
"The question is how we lift ourselves for this game, because Shrewsbury will fight for the second balls and play direct and those kind of things, and you have to cope," the manager said, according to TheFA.com. "When you see the last two games it is maybe like that - but then we have to make them fear again. On Monday we have to win and when we win we are in the next round. We are capable to win The FA Cup because we have also won against Swansea City at home or Watford away. We have played Chelsea away. It is always possible."
