There's no denying that Janelle Monae is an electric performer, and she doesn't even have to sing her own songs to show why she's the boss. Last night (June 11), the "Primetime" singer stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman to perform her stunning cover of David Bowie's "Heroes."

For her rendition of the Bowie classic, Monae kicked up the tempo and the energy, as she is apt to do, adding peppy electronic elements into the slower, steadier original "Heroes."

For her Letterman performance, Monae and her crew show up in their signature black and white clothing, but the song itself is nothing but vibrant. Much like her weekend performance at Governors Ball, Monae ramped up the energy, kicking her microphone stand to the side and spinning around the stage like the mad android that she is.

Monae embraces the hero theme of the track, constantly flexing her arms and flying around the small studio, killing any sort of enemies with her sweet, sweet vocals.

Monae's cover of David Bowie's "Heroes" was officially released this week as a part of Pepsi Beats of the Beautiful Game and its accompanying album. The World Cup themed album also features songs by Kelly Rowland, Rita Ora, Timbaland and more.
