Ben E. King's classic song "Stand by Me" has been covered by countless performers over the years, but we might have found the best politically influenced rendition of the tune this week. By "best," we of course mean "most awkward" because it happened at a Donald Trump rally for his 2016 Presidential campaign, with Ben Carson also on stage.

Over the weekend, Trump hosted the annual Palm Beach County Republican party Lincoln Day fundraiser at his Mar-a-Lago estate, and was presented with a special performance by singer Beau Davidson.

To be completely fair to Trump and Carson (for some reason), it looks like they had no idea what was going on before, during or after Davidson's serenading, but they managed to look at least a little into it. Swaying and grimacing along, this Trump and 2016 Presidential race themed rendition of the classic soul tune, which was in a big band or lounge arrangement, the politicians were as comfortable as you'll be when you watch this video (via Fox 10 Phoenix / Gawker).

Mentioning Hillary Clinton and other key campaign points that Trump has mentioned over the course of his campaign, we figure that Ben E. King may have been more than a bit intrigued by his classic being performed in such a way for Trump.

You can check out this video of Carson and Trump dancing as best they can to this long song from Davidson right here:

We enjoy the fact that Davidson is dressed like Trump, with a big pink tie and bland suit, while also resembling a very tall Keith Urban. There's so much going on in this video. Each time you watch it, you find something new!
