One of the big problems that many music industry executives believe still hasn't been solved is that many fans are still unaware when their favorite artists come to town. Even when that happens, the ease of finding that information and purchasing a ticket, like one-click shopping on Amazon, hasn't become ubiquitous across platforms. Bandsintown, one of the leading apps to track artists live tour dates and Ticketmaster have teamed up to provide a solution to that by offering in-app ticket purchases as you peruse your favorite artists' tour schedules.

The time-saving feature will be quite simple to use for users on both android and IOS apps. Buying tickets will be made simple within the app without having to go outside of it to another website to pick up passes, which could be a deterrent for the ADHD or most casual fans. For now credit card information still needs to be entered, but there will be integration with various wallet applications in the future.

"Our main goal at Bandsintown is getting more music fans to concerts. Today, the app drives 7 million leads a month to primary ticketing sites," said Fabrice Sergent, Bandsintown's chief executive via Billboard. "By building on Ticketmaster's new capabilities, we have dramatically improved the user experience, strengthening artists' and promoters' ability to sell out shows."

According to Ticketmaster North American President Jared Smith via Tech Crunch, based on early beta testing for the app, conversion rates from users just looking at shows to those who will purchase tickets could jump as by 5 times.

There are currently 340,000 artists and around 700,000 concerts listed a month on Bandsintown.

This comes after Pandora at last integrated its recent purchase of Ticketfly into its API last week. It bought the ticketing service for $450 million last year for the purpose of offering more services to artists and fans through the live space.
