Tegan and Sara recently revealed the news that their eighth studio album, Love You to Death, will be available on June 3, 2016, and this week shared the first single, "Boyfriend." The indie-pop sister duo teased the premiere of the song on Twitter ahead of the first listen to "Boyfriend," which quickly started to spread.

She had a guy that she was sort of seeing, and we used to joke around that she was treating me like her boyfriend, and I was trying to get her to tie it down. I wanted her to make it official with me," Sara revealed to Beats 1 in a quick interview preceding the premiere, according to Vulture. "We've all been in that situation where we really like someone and we want to make it official and they're not ready."
