Brooklyn's smaller and much less crowded answer at SXSW, Northside Festival, has announced over 80 musical acts that will join its already quite solid 2016 lineup. Among those who have been added to the bill include Gang of Youth, Diarrhea Planet, Viceroy, Machinedrum, Frankie Cosmos and Grouper.

As some of the names come in so do a few details, Diarrhea Planet will headline Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday, June 9 with opener Sweet Crude. The annual Pitchfork Showcase at St. Vitus will feature Lotic, Rabit, Priests, Marshstepper, Breadwoman, David Vassalotti and Bichkraft who hail from Ukraine and are making their U.S. debut.

Additional names who have been added include The Gotobeds, Lushlife & CSLSX, Marshstepper, Oddisee & Good Company, Priests, Rationale, Weyes Blood and the first US show of Anna Homler and Steve Warwick's 1980's art project Breadwoman.

The festival still has a strong emphasis on local talent with new additions like Aye Nako, Beech Creeps, Bing & Ruth, Dreamcrusher, Juliana Huxtable, Kid Millions & Jim Sauter Duo, Psychic Ills, Yellow Eyes all getting some love this year.

Wolf Parade will perform a special free show to kick off the music section of Northside at McCarren Park on June 9.

Gang of Youths will perform at the Knitting Factory on June 12.

The 80 plus added names on the Northside Festival lineup will join previously announced acts such as Brian Wilson Performing Pet Sounds, Diet Cig, Hinds, Lotic, DJ Spinn, The Cave Singers, Beth Israel, and Childbirth.

One of the biggest showcases announced so far is Kasey Musgraves co-headlining with Conor Oberst with The Felice Brothers opening on June 11.

Northside Festival will kick off on June 6 with three days of film. Tech and music will then run at the same time from June 9 to 12 at venues all around Williamsburg and Greenpoint. Passes can be picked up on Northside's website.
