Due to a sinus and throat infection, Ariana Grande did not perform at Rock in Rio, a festival located in Lisbon, Portugal, over the weekend. Grande was slated to perform this past Sunday (May 29) but was ordered by a doctor to opt out of the performance while she recovers from the illness.

“I’m deeply saddened to tell my babes in Portugal that I have to cancel my performance at Rock in Rio. (I’ve literally been crying over this for an hour)… I have a throat & sinus infection & my doctors have advised me not to sing for a few days,” Grande posted on Instagram. “I promise to make it up to you, and give you the best show I’m capable of when I return. Again, I’m so sorry to the babes who were coming to see me. I love you with all my heart.”

Grande’s most recent album, entitled Dangerous Woman, was released on May 2 and has been extraordinarily successful on both the charts and in album sales.

In other Grande news, the singer recently replaced a scheduled hologram of Whitney Houston for a duet on The Voice with Christina Aguilera. Grande performed the title track of her new album as well as another from the new album called “Into You.”

According to Billboard, the hologram of Houston was not up to her family’s standards and they requested that it not be included. The executor of the estate, Pat Houston, expressed that the timing wasn’t right for the digital image to be used.
