One Direction began work on its fourth studio album before its latest effort Midnight Memories even saw the light of day... and now reports are surfacing of a new collaborator on the project. After rumors bubbled up earlier this year, it seems confirmed that OneRepublic frontman/songwriter Ryan Tedder worked on the release on a new song called "Get Away."

According to The Sun (via Idolator), a top-secret project between Tedder and the boys of 1D has been confirmed to be a new song from the band's new studio effort.

Concrete details about the new song "Get Away" are scarce, but Tedder has a stellar songwriting track record. In addition to OneRepublic hits like "Counting Stars," he's also responsible for Demi Lovato's "Neon Lights," Maroon 5's new single "Maps," the Beyoncé single "XO" and an upcoming Ariana Grande track "Why Try" from My Everything... and that's just from the last year or so.

Meanwhile, Tedder isn't the only writing partner One Direction have teamed up with for its fourth studio album. Earlier this year, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne were in the studio with former Good Charlotte brothers Benji and Joel Madden and Harry Styles was writing with the band Kodaline.

Idolator also notes 1D has been working with Emeli Sandé, Naughty Boy and McFly.

More details about One Direction's follow-up to Midnight Memories are scarce, with no release date, album title or new single even being teased.

Currently, One Direction are busy on the road, performing across the globe on its Where We Are Tour. The boys are set to perform next on Tuesday, July 8, in Barcelona.
