This coming new year celebration will definitely be a happy one for the men of BBD and New Edition as they prepare the trifecta coming this January with their BET miniseries, a new album and their Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
Michael Bivins, Ron DeVoe and Ricky Bell, collectively known as Bell Biv DeVoe (BBD) joined the cast of the upcoming three-night BET mini-series, The New Edition Story, as presenters on stage during the 2016 Centric Presents Soul Train Awards.
The cast included Bryshere Gray; Luke James, Elijah Kelley, Algee Smith, Keith Powers and Woody McClain as New Edition member Bobby Brown also present on stage during the awards ceremony.
In addition to presenting the nominees and winner of the Centric Certified Award category, the NE cast and members spoke briefly on what's to come with the premiere of The New Edition Story, set to air on Tuesday, January 24 at 9 p.m. on BET.
For three nights BET will air the untold story of how New Edition got their start as children back in Boston. Also, how they grew up and eventually added new members to the group once the original members didn't work out. The movie will also show how one group sparked the successful solo careers of Brown, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill; while also forming a separate super group, BBD, who's new album will be released this coming January.
During the taping of the Soul Train Awards, on the Red Carpet at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Wanda Coppage of Music Times caught up with Bivins, DeVoe and Bell who explained the "tricknology" behind having their new music coinciding with the release of the NE movie.
"Bell Biv DeVoe, the new album is coming out January 27," the day after the conclusion of the NE story revealed DeVoe. "That's what you call incredible marketing." he continued.
The new album, Three Stripes, will feature the lead single "Run" currently doing well on the iTunes chart according to DeVoe.
A great year is in the making for these gentleman!
