Lady Gaga’s visual director has revealed details of her set at Coachella 2017 and promises that it will be “high energy.” Gaga’s performance at Coachella is part of her Joanne World Tour.
Visual director and longtime choreographer Richy Jackson, who was behind “Bad Romance,” “Born This Way,” and “Applause,” reports that she has been in daily rehearsals since she agreed to perform.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jackson said that the pop star’s schedule has been out straight with putting together her Joanne tour. Gaga is the first woman to headline the festival since Bjork performed in 2007.
“It has been a very collaborative effort; it’s been meetings, meetings, more meetings, emails, text messages and everything under the sun,” Jackson said to EW. “There’s not a lot of time, so everything’s just got to be on point. We have to know who to call to get what done, there’s no time to take any chances. Once the meetings are done, it’s creating the setlist, making changes to the setlist. Then on top of that, getting music together, outfits, and the whole nine.”
He further said, “For the crowd at Coachella, they are there for so many different reasons, so as far as our show, what I can tell you, it is going to be high energy, we are going to play with some of her various genres she has within her as an artist and figure out a way to allocate those things throughout the show, and take some risks and some chances and have a good time, because we’re out there at Coachella.”
The “A-Yo” singer replaced Beyonce as the headliner for the festival, which she announced to fans via Twitter. Beyonce reportedly postponed the performance due to her pregnancy, as she would have been in her third trimester at the time of the performance. Gaga is set to headline on April 15 and 22 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California.
