Often known as the nicest man in the music industry, it seems Dave Grohl has a dark side that people shouldn't want to get on. Simply put, don't talk to the Foo Fighters frontman, and former Nirvana drummer, about televised talent shows and singing competitions, because he doesn't appear to care for them.

Grohl recently spoke at an event hosted by the TV Critics Association in Los Angeles. During his speech, he commented, "I don't want my kid to think that the only way you can be a musician is to stand in line at a song contest audition, and then wind up having a bazillionaire tell you you're not a good singer. Don't get me started. To me, that's not what music's about."

The musician has a track record for having one of the best careers in music to date, starting off in the iconic grunge rock band Nirvana and moving onto front one of the industry's most well known groups, the Foo Fighters.

Grohl has his own show coming out later this year titled Sonic Highways. The series will be a documentary-styled show created for HBO that showcases his love of music. He's called the project "a love letter to the history of American music."

Sonic Highways will come alongside the Foo Fighters' next album, or at the very least, be released around the same time. The HBO series, which will reportedly document the recording process, comes at the tail end of the success of Grohl's popular Sound City documentary, released in 2013.

In speaking of the new album, he has said, "We really had to step up what we do. The music is a progression or an evolution for sure, but it's a Foo Fighters record."
