Led Zeppelin will celebrate Record Store Day by releasing a limited edition 7-inch single featuring two tracks that have never been heard before.

The event, which will take place on April 21, is an annual celebration to promote independently-owned bookstores. This year, the hip-hop duo Run The Jewels will be the event's ambassador.

Record Store Day 2018 Special Offer

Led Zeppelin is among the artists and bands who will participate in the annual global event. In April, the English rock band will release a new vinyl single that will feature unreleased versions of "Rock And Roll" and "Friends."

The Sunset Sound Mix of "Rock and Roll" recorded back in 1971 is part of the band's fourth studio album, Led Zeppelin IV. Only two other Sunset Sound Mixes have been released prior to "Rock and Roll:" "When The Levee Breaks" and "Stairway To Heaven."

Meanwhile, the band recorded Olympic Studios Mix of "Friends" in 1970 for Led Zeppelin III. This version does not have the orchestration of the final mix, explains Blabbermouth.

In addition, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will also release a remastered version of the live album How The West Won. The collection will feature the band's legendary performances at the Los Angeles Forum and Long Beach Arena in 1972. The record will be released in multiple formats on March 23.

Led Zeppelin At 50

This year, the iconic rock group will also be celebrating five decades in the music industry. Formed in 1968 in London, the group will release a book written and curated by the band's surviving members and some unheard music.

"Well, we're planning to get together and talk about it," said singer Robert Plant about the half-a-century anniversary. "Basically, it's very difficult to find stuff that still is unheard, and not only will it be 50 years, but it'll be, next year, 38 years since John [Bonham] passed away. And the great thing about Led Zeppelin was that we didn't chronicle ourselves; we just kind of went from town to town and sang songs and played guitars and stuff. And then went about our lives. The whole idea of chronicling the life of people in bands ... In a way, I wish that we had more stuff to look at, but there will be a book of photographs and stuff."

Plant, however, assured that there will certainly be a celebration somewhere.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin, a 368-page book, will be published in October by Reel Art Press. It will offer the story of the band's rise to fame and will offer photographs of the members onstage and offstage.

The book is now available for preorders via Reel Art Press.
