Country music icon Kenny Rogers was forced to cancel the final leg of his massive farewell tour, The Gambler's Last Deal.

Doctor's Orders

The 79-year-old singer was experiencing a series of health challenges, according to Rolling Stone. Rogers's management team also told the news agency that his doctors needed him to cancel his tour to recuperate. The "I Prefer The Moonlight" singer only had eight shows remaining on his schedule including his appearance at a Blackpool, England concert festival, BBC News reports.

Social Media Reacts

When news of the music icon's forced farewell circulated, his fans took to social media to voice their thoughts. While some fans snickered about Rogers's appearance, others were truly saddened to hear the unfortunate news regarding the legendary performer's health decline.

The Legends Update

Rogers is not the only music legend that has been in the news. Aretha Franklin had to postpone all her concert dates after the Queen of Soul's doctors stated that she needed to stay home and recuperate. Some of the performances that had to be canceled included her appearance at the upcoming New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Meanwhile, Sir Elton John announced that he would be retiring from touring on Jan. 24. The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour is expected to last three years.

Paying Homage To A Legend

The country music industry honored Rogers's numerous accomplishments over his 60-year career with a massive celebration in October 2017 at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. The singer reunited with fellow country music legend Dolly Parton as they performed several of their iconic collaborations including "Islands in the Stream." Other artists that made appearances at the concert included Chris Stapleton, Idina Menzel, Little Big Town, and American Idol judge Lionel Richie.

Kenny's Memorable Moments

Rogers had several memorable appearances throughout this decade. He was among the entertainers who appeared in Geico advertisements in 2015. The advertisement clip showed Rogers at a card table with several poker players. As the game was in process, Rogers sang a few lines from his iconic song, "The Gambler."

In 2014, Rogers opened up to AXS TV in an hour-long interview at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. The conversation took place while the museum was hosting an exhibit that honored the singer's legacy in country music. One crucial interview segment included his longtime friendship with Parton. Rogers admitted that while they were recording their new song, "You Can't Make Old Friends," Parton jokingly admitted that she could never sing at his funeral, and Rogers humorlessly shot back that he was the one that would pass away first.

The exhibit, Kenny Rogers: Through The Years, which touched on all parts of his career ran from Aug. 15, 2014 to June 14, 2015. Rogers became a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013. He also received the Country Music Association's Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award in the same year.
