Ric Ocasek and Paulina Porizkova announced their split through a lengthy social media post. The couple was together for 28 years.

On Wednesday, Porizkova revealed that she and Ocasek had separated for a year, but it was only recently that they shared the news with their fans.

In her lengthy post, the former supermodel also incorporated several Cars references. Ocasek served as the frontman for Cars for many years.

Despite their split, Porizkova said that she will continue to upload photos with her ex-husband and their children because they are still a family. Last month, Ocasek and Porizkova even attended the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in Cleveland, Ohio together.

While at the event, the 74-year-old musician and his 53-year-old ex-wife embraced each other as they posed for photos.

Paulina Porizkova Talks About Ric Ocasek

Ocasek and Porizkova first met in 1984 while Cars was filming the music video for "Drive." Five years later, the couple tied the knot. In 2015, Porizkova opened up about her marriage to Ocasek and said that she is lucky to have found her partner for life.

"I agree we did get lucky to find the right person, having the brains to know that it's the right person and to work on it and not let it fall apart when things aren't easy," said the supermodel.

Unfortunately, the couple decided to call it quits two years after Porizkova's interview.

Ric Ocasek's Music Career

Ocasek, on the other hand, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. His full name is Richard Theodore Otcasek. In the 1960s, Ocasek met future Cars bassist Benjamin Orr while he was living in Cleveland. At that time, Orr was still part of the Grasshoppers band.

Years later, the two musicians reconnected with each other, and they decided to form the Cars together. They also formed several other bands together like Milkwood and Cap'n Swing.
