Not many details about Estefan's appearance on the show has been divulged yet, but the Grammy-winning singer teased fans about the character she will play. In the caption of her Instagram post, she wrote that she will play the role of Mirtha, Lydia's (Rita Moreno) younger sister.

In addition, she warned that Mirtha's arrival will be stirring major trouble for Lydia and the Alvarez family.

Estefan, a Havana-born artist, performed the updated theme song of One Day At A Time on Netflix. This is the first time that she will appear onscreen of the rebooted comedy series.

Saved By Fans

Netflix announced the renewal of One Day At A Time to Season 3 back in March. Moreno, Justin Machado, Todd Grinnell, Stephen Tobolowsky, Isabella Gomez, and Marcel Ruiz are all expected to return and reprise their roles.

No exact premiere date has been announced yet, but all episodes are expected to drop in 2019, reported Variety.

A few months back, fans created a social media campaign to encourage the streaming service to renew the comedy series to Season 3.

Gloria Estefan Onstage

In the meantime, On Your Feet is currently on a national tour. The acclaimed stage musical follows the incredible journey of Estefan and her husband Emilio into becoming international superstars.

The show also features some of her most popular songs such as "Conga," "Con Los Años Que Me Quedan," "Don't Want To Lose You," and, of course, the titular "Get On Your Feet."

"Definitely get to see the human side of her," stated Christie Prades who stars as Gloria Estefan. "You get to see their tribulations. They were the pioneers for breaking from the Spanish to the English markets, so many artists today are hearing songs that have both English and Spanish."

The On Your Feet national tour will run until April 2019.
