The International Jazz Day 2020, an annual music event that is usually held on April 30 is the new addition to the list of events that were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The festival organizers, however, are looking at the possibility of pursuing the celebration with major protocol changes. To avoid gathering of crowds, the organizers persuaded artists do live performance in their accounts for their fans to watch. The live stream will be included in the festival according to Billboard.

This year's International Jazz Day is supposed to be held in Cape Town in South Africa. The organizers will release details about the proposed live stream and additional programming. Meanwhile, the organizers in almost 200 countries around the world who had registered in the event were urged to participate in the festival's virtual programming.

Jazz musician and UNESCO Goodwill ambassador Herbie Hancock released a press release urging the jazz community to help those in frontlines in battling the coronavirus.
