There have been reports regarding this year's 64th annual Grammy Awards leading to postponement as it was set for January 31.

The annual awards ceremony is reportedly going to be held on January 31 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Though, a source with direct knowledge said that it's "looking likely" that the event will move to a later date due to the new COVID Virant, omicron, per Billboard.

The 2022 Grammys would become the second year in a row that the Recording Academy has decided to postpone due to COVID-19.

The Second Year In A Row

This would be the second year in a row that the Grammys have been postponed due to COVID-19. Recalling last year's show, the Academy was initially set for January 31, too. However, as announced by January 5, they moved the ceremony to March 14 due to the COVID-19 case spike in Los Angeles.

As per the said publisher, they even relocated the show from Staples Center (the former name of Crypto.com Arena) to Los Angeles Convention Center, allowing for less crowding.

The Recording Academy also confirmed that Trevor Noah will return as this year's show after hosting back in 2021.

According to the article, they are known to hold the ceremony in an arena at total capacity since they get considerable ticket revenue. The Academy would also lose if they had another scaled-back show like last year.

Due to the belief that they will likely move the event to a later date, the MusiCares gala for January 29 and Pre-Grammy Gala for January 30 would also move under the said scenario. A Recording Academy spokesman emphasized that no decision has been made and urged caution against speculation set off by the unnamed source.

Fulwell 73 Productions will be the telecast producer for the Recording Academy. The executive producers will have Ben Winston, Jesse Collins, and showrunner Raj Kapoor.

In the last quarter of 2021, Grammy nominations were announced. Earning 11 nods, Jon Batiste is leading, followed by Doja Cat, H.E.R., and Justin Bieber with eight nods each. This year will also become the first time the award show has had ten nominees in the so-called Big Four categories - album, record, and song of the year plus best new artist.
