Dave Grohl may be performing with Foo Fighters to the fullest whenever they have a concert or a performance, but he's experiencing something shocking that's been affecting his music career. He claims that the COVID-19 pandemic made it worse.

According to NME, the former Nirvana drummer is struggling from hearing loss, and he recently opened up about how it impacted his life, especially on finding tune when recording music.

In an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, the musician said he wouldn't understand a single word if he were sitting next to someone at dinner, especially in a crowded restaurant. (watch the full video below)

His condition got worse during the COVID-10 pandemic as people started wearing masks.

"I've been reading lips for, like, 20 years. I'm a rock musician. I'm f****** deaf. I can't hear what you're saying," he noted.

Despite having difficulty hearing, Grohl noted that his years-long experience in the music business has helped him pinpoint sounds in the studio during a recording session.

Whenever they're working on a studio, the singer said he can hear the "slightest little things" as his ears are still tuned in to "certain frequencies."

He made an example about the frequencies, saying he hears something out of tune or an instrument that's not bright enough.

"I can f****** hear the minutiae of everything we had done to that song," he added.

Most musicians wear in-ear monitors during live performances as the crowd's sound could get loud, but Grohl noted he managed to perform with it with the help of the same audio technician for decades.

The Foo Fighters frontman then noted that he has a problem with ear monitors, saying it "removes you from the natural atmosphere sound" as he wanted to hear the audience in front of him.

Elsewhere in the interview, the musician gave fans an update regarding new music, saying he hopes to release a complete record of new thrash metal next week.

He's referring to "Studio 666," a supernatural comedy film that will be released on February 25.

Fans can enjoy a track from the fictional band Dream Widow titled "March Of The Insane," featured in the movie. The lyric video is available on YouTube for streaming.
