Just like many musicians and artists in the music industry, even famous people like Dave Grohl still tend to be starstruck when they see someone bigger than them for the first time.

In a recent interview, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer confessed how he was captivated by one of his music idols, David Bowie.

Dave Grohl Met David Bowie for the First Time

Considered by many as one of the best-selling artists of all time, Bowie sold an estimate of 100 million records globally; he also had multi-platinum records and eleven number-one albums on his belt.

Anyone would have sweated so much when you get a chance to meet the icon, but in Dave Grohl's case, he thought he was seeing an alien for the first time.

Grohl recounted to Australian Broadcasting Company's evening program the first time he saw David Bowie onstage.

"I stood in the photo pit and looked at him and it was like seeing an alien. You know, it was like seeing a UFO for the first time, like, 'Oh, my God, it's real'. That's something I've never seen before," the Foo Fighters frontman recalled.

Bowie and Grohl performed at the same festival in England where their first meeting happened, with Bowie as the main headliner.

Grohl has nothing to say but praises for his idol, calling him a "gentleman" and an "outrageously funny person."

The two proceeded to record a song together, in which Grohl seemed to have deeply embedded in his memory after hearing Bowie's iconic voice up close.

"The great thing about it is that it really humanizes everything. We're like, 'Wow, that's a real person.' It's reassuring, but at the same time, you're like, 'That's a hero.' That's not just another person. That's David Bowie," he elaborated.

Dave Grohl Remains Grounded

Even with the fame and privilege that came after meeting and working with a music icon like David Bowie, Dave Grohl remains humble after all.

In the same interview, Grohl mentioned that while the platinum records, television fame, and worldwide recognition are "flattering rewards," he said that "ultimately, the real stuff is over here," pointing to the ground.

"One of the biggest lessons in all of this, for any young artist, if they come to the point where that other stuff complicates their life...you just say 'no'," he advised.
