Batiste made his career debut in Amsterdam at the age of 20. His self-produced show at the Concertgebouw also marked his start to use jazz combos, choir, and orchestral synonyms in his upcoming career.

He made his GRAMMY debut at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards to perform a tribute to the late Chuck Berry and Fats Domino.

Jon also led the Julliard-formed band "Stay Human" with his peers, bassist Phil Kuehn and drummer Joe Saylor. In 2015, the band became the in-house musicians for The Late Night with Stephen Colbert.

Batiste wrote the soundtrack of the 2020 Disney film "Soul." The soundtrack for the film ultimately earned an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Grammy Award, all for Best Original Score.

Aside from "Soul," Batiste's eighth studio album, "We Are," might have been the most successful one he has to date.

Commercially, it only reached No. 86 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and the Top Hip-Hop/R&B Album at No. 47.

But despite this, Batiste is the most-nominated artist at the 2022 GRAMMYs with a staggering eleven nominations.
