Following the rollout of his 2020 album "Wonder," Shawn Mendes decided to take an unconventional route for his upcoming world tour for the said album.

Mendes, who will take on the likes of Billie Eilish, Coldplay, and Justin Bieber - had their fans lined up in doing certain initiatives and challenges wither for the environment or the society.

Shawn Mendes 'Wonder Tour 2022' Schedule

Kicking off in Portland's Moda Center on Jun. 27, 2022, and ended his North America tour in Newark, New Jersey, on Oct. 26, 2022.

After a 54-date trek in the United States, Shawn Mendes will then traverse Europe and the United Kingdom, starting May 31, 2023, in Bologna, Italy's Unipol Arena ending at Dublin, Ireland's 3Arena on Aug. 1, 2023.

Shawn Mendes 'Wonder Tour 2022' Green Initiative

To achieve its reduced emissions goal, Shawn Mendes' tour shall be offering merchandise crafted from sustainable fabrics with fewer dyes.

The show shall also use efficient lighting and power to reduce energy consumption. When traveling from show to show, the crew shall now be using sustainable fuel options.

Organizers will now source ingredients from local farmers for their food as any excess food shall be composted or donated to appropriate organizations.

Carpooling or the use of sustainable transportation to the venue shall also be encouraged for fans to reduce the tour's carbon negative.

"No plan is perfect, but we see this as a starting point. We are in a pivotal moment for climate, and it's crucial to me that this tour is a step in the right direction," Shawn Mendes said in a statement announcing his plans.

For AG Artists Founder and Shawn Mendes' Manager Andrew Gertler, he now believes that this is high time for larger acts like Shawn Mendes to "prioritize sustainability" in the music industry.

For him, it could become the standard for more acts to follow after the COVID-19 pandemic hiatus.

This is not the first time Mendes has launched an initiative on his concert tours.

In his 2019 world tour, the Canadian pop star has teamed up with Reverb to push for sustainable initiatives. At the time, it was water refilling stations, eliminating over 1 million single-use plastic water bottles.

This time, the two organizations will be working together again as he sets up an "Impact Village" at each North American tour stop.

"Impact Village" shall be featuring booths from his foundation, Reverb's Music Climate Revolution, and local activists and organizations for fans to pledge to take action against climate change.
