Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2022 Inductees

At the top of the list is Country music superstar Dolly Parton. Although she has declined the nomination twice - Parton has finally accepted the nomination last week in an interview with NPR.

The "Jolene" hitmaker sparked conversations again about her eligibility as a Country artist in the Rock Hall. Soon as the ballot was out, she expressed that she did not want to be considered as she felt like she was not much of a "rock" singer and that she did not want to split the votes among others who were more deserving.

However, in her recent interview - she said she would "graciously" accept the induction should she be voted.

Duran Duran, who led the Fan Voting leaderboards with 934,880 fan votes, is also inducted into the Rock Hall.

British duo Eurythmics also made it into the cut after being on the ballot for the second time. Ari Lennox and Dave Stewart were already eligible for induction since 2018.

Multiplatinum rock artist Pat Benatar finally prevailed after her last nomination in 2020.

Gershwin-winning Artist Lionel Richie and ASCAP Founder Awardee Carly Simon were also among the eight acts to be inducted after being eligible for years already.

Lastly, Slim Shady made it to the Rock Hall in his first year of being eligible and nominated. Like Dolly Parton, who came from Country music, Eminem also sparked controversy with his nomination coming from the hip hop genre.

Although only seven acts were inducted into the Performer Category, Rock Hall voters thought that Judas Priest should also be included in this year's Class. The English heavy metal band will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with a Musical Excellence Award and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

Other inductees also include singer and humanitarian activist Harry Belafonte and folk and blues singer-guitarist, Elizabeth Cotten. Both will be receiving the Early Influence Award.

Prominent entertainment lawyer Allen Grubman, Interscope Records founder Jimmy Iovine, and pioneer Black Hip Hop mogul Sylvia Robinson shall all be receiving the Ahmet Ertegun Award. The award is given to non-performing industry professionals who, through their dedicated belief and support of artists and their music had contributed to the growth of rock & roll.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2022 induction will take place on Nov. 5, 2022. However, it would not be simulcasted live. HBO, HBO Max, and Sirius XM will air a recording of the ceremony at a later date.
